Teenage Qari Calls Her Success in Quranic Fields A Divine Blessing
Fatemeh Dehqan, 16, is competing in the recitation category in the women’s section of the contest.
She started learning Quran recitation and Tajweed at the age of ten.
In addition to recitation, she is learning the Quran by heart and has so far memorized ten Juzes (parts) of the Holy Book.
Speaking to IQNA after her performance at the competition, Fatemeh said she spends four to five hours a day to memorize the Quran and enhance her recitation skills.
When asked if a qari should also be a memorizer of the Quran, she said it was not necessary, but after realizing that she was interested in memorizing the Quran and had the ability, she decided to do so.
She also said that the time spent in learning the Quran does not prevent her from studying her school lessons.
“My friends ask me how I manage to do all these activities and I tell them it is a divine blessing.”
Elsewhere in her remarks, Fatemeh referred to her parents’ role in helping her discover her Quranic talents and said they made a lot of efforts to help her success in Quranic fields.
Fatemeh also said she likes to serve as a member of panels of judges in international Quran competitions when she grows up.

As for her dream job, she said she would like to be an Arabic language teacher.
The final round of Iran’s 47th National Quran Competition is underway in the northwestern city of Tabriz.
